From the perspective of the market, higher charging power can also add awarded marks to mobile phones and attract people to buy.

In order to deal with the confusion of charging protocols, the USB-IF launched the PPS protocol based on PD 3.0. As a programmable protocol, it can adapt to two quick charging modes of high voltage low current and low current high voltage, which means that it can be compatible with most of the current private quick charging protocols on the market.

At the same time, PPS supports finer voltage adjustment, up to 0.02V. Better voltage adjustment accuracy is conducive to subsequent adjustment of input current, and it can also transfer part of the heat generated by charging from the mobile phone to the charger, giving consideration to efficiency and experience.

It takes time for new technology from release to popularization. Considering market and cost, mobile phone manufacturers may also move toward the public protocol slowly.

The new EU regulations have an opportunity to change this situation. Once the legislation stipulates that USB-C should be used as the standard charger interface, it is very likely that 1-2 protocols will be chosen as the general charging protocol. At present, PD is considered to be one of the most likely selected protocols.

In this way, manufacturers will also accelerate to promote compatibility with high-power PD protocol.
